Experimental expressions with plant materials

Experimental expressions with plant materials (EX) is a tertiary vocational education which focuses on the plant materials aesthetic and technical possibilities. 

Experimental expressions with plant materials gives the competence of using the plant material in three directions: free artistic expressions, design or craft, where a direction might be chosen through the education.

Target groups: The education is for various craftsmen, florists, designers, artists and teachers working with arts and crafts who want to continue their lifelong education through the experimentation of plant materials. 

Level: Tertiary vocational education (NKR 5.1/EQF 5)

Number of credit points: 30 vocational credit points

Full time/part time: Part-time for one year

Number of sessions/gatherings: 7 sessions over 1 – 2 weeks 

Start of studies: 20th of August 2018

Place of study: Norges grønne fagskole – Vea, Turistveien 92, 2390 Moelv, Norway. Two of the sessions/gatherings are held outside Norway. 

Deadline for application: 15th of April 2018

Tution fee: NOK 9000,-

Contents of the program: 
  • Craft experimentation and use of plant material in combination with other handicrafts
  • Idea- and concept development that includes project management in creative works, exhibition techniques, communication and dissemination

Organization and work methods: The education is offered as a session-based study with 7 sessions with the duration of 1 – 2 weeks. Between the sessions input and tutoring are given by using the Internet and different digital tools. Admission requirements: The tertiary vocational education is based on the secondary level education or equivalent qualifications (cf. Fagskolelovens § 1). Admission requirements for Experimental expressions with plant materials are:

1.Successfully completed the Norwegian upper secondary education Design og håndverk, with a craft certificate in the relevant subjects or
2. Prior learning equivalent to section 1. Applicants seeking validation must contact Vea for guidance.
The applicant must also have basic knowledge in English.

Experimental expressions with plant materials has been on a trip to Malmö and Copenhagen.

Five days filled with impressions that we hope will be transferred to personal expressions in the tasks to come.

Promotion in the Baltic countries, three countries in three days!

Experimental Floral Design has been to Malmø on a studytrip. We went to Copenhagen one day and visited Hotel Pro Forma, Erik Buch and Tage Andersen. Erik Buch have a shop at Amager, close to Hotel Pro Forma, inside a large antique shop, "Green Square". Tage Andersens shop is in the center of Copenhagen, near to Kongens Nytorv.

Soft LandArt by Experimental Floral Design in Italy
